BORGO ROCCA SVEVA: THE GREAT WINES OF VERONA
Sheltered by the Soave city walls lies Borgo Rocca Sveva, a wine cellar carved out of the hill on which the Scaligeri Castle stands. In this medieval village, which Cantina di Soave has transformed into an innovative centre of wine excellence, the best grapes are aged in the cellars. These are magical and mysterious places, nestling oak barrels and long rows of barriques where the great white and red wines of the Veronese tradition such as Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone are refined.
The winery's exquisite hospitality welcomes us at the entrance to the Venetian-style Villa Giavarina, where we begin our tour among places that speak of an ancient history of tradition and respect for the land.
In the afternoon, what better way to end our visit than to get lost among the alleyways of the Soave citadel, dotted with small shops displaying local handicrafts? Or soaking up nature at a slow pace, among the hills of Soave Classico on a horseback ride?
