Owned by the Terraneo family, the Castelvecchio wine estate is located in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, in the Karst region. This is a place where past, present and future come together and everything becomes vividly alive.
Alive is the vineyard that yields wines exalting the typical character of the Karst terroir, like Malvasia and Terrano, alive is the park in the shade of ancient trees, dedicated to the great poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, and alive is the 18th century Villa with its frescoes and vestiges of the past.
The experience that our tour director will accompany you on is like taking a journey back in time, where history, art, and winemaking come together in an area that has been the scene of some of the events that changed the destiny of Italy at the beginning of the twentieth Century.
To round off our Wineroads day trip, we head to Udine, a city steeped in history, which shows the signs of the long Venetian domination in its architecture and numerous squares. The goldsmiths' and artisans' workshops dot the squares with their Venetian charm, the arcades and the historic streets of the city centre. Let's step into a typical osteria and experience the ritual of tajut: a glass of excellent Friulian wine to be enjoyed in companionable conversation, in an elegant and at the same time cosy atmosphere.
